Mary and Tom, parents of Shane, Anthony his brother, Jenna his girlfriend, near and extended family and close friends, wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to all those who comforted them in their tragic loss. In particular to Shane’s wide circle of friends from work and sporting circles.
Those who visited, sent Mass cards, perpetual enrolments, personal written messages of sympathy, Limerick Leader website expressions of sympathy and floral tributes. Those who provided and signed the many books of condolences locally and countrywide.
Those who proposed and observed ‘minutes silence’ locally and nationally. Those who attended his Requiem Mass. We are especially grateful to St. Joseph’s parish, Fr. Tom Mangan P.P. and the many other concelebrants, in particular our thanks to Fr. Jim Maher S.J. chief celebrant for such a moving homily, also to President Mary McAleese, An Taoiseach’s Aide De Camp, Bishop Donal Murray, the Mayor and City Councillors, the Dáil representatives, the clergy of all denominations, the vocalist, violinists and all who contributed to make it such a memorable Eucharistic celebration.
Sincere thanks to the many friends and neighbours who provided hospitality and support throughout Shane’s last days at home with his family and friends. Special thanks to Garryowen FC team mates, executive and members for showing us such tremendous ongoing support.
Also, to the IRFU, rugby clubs and the many clubs of all codes, nationwide, our sincere thanks. Special thanks, also to Old Crescent FC, Anthony’s club for their extra care of him at this so sad and difficult time. Most sincere thanks to Shane’s employers, friends and work colleagues at Air Atlanta where he was very happily employed, for all their kindness and support.
Sincere thanks to the Gardaí, State Pathologist and the Mid Western Regional Hospital for their sensitive and professional attention to us around Shane’s murder investigation, as also, to the Crime Call team. Heartfelt appreciation to Gerry Griffin and the staff of Griffin’s Funeral Directors for all their help and compliance with all our wishes around Shane’s funeral arrangements and for their personal attention and kindness throughout.
As it would be absolutely impossible to thank individually all those who cared for and supported us, please let this acknowledgement assure anyone who held us in their thoughts or prayers, even for a moment, that we will be forever grateful. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and personal prayers will be offered for all your intentions.
